Wall rails

Standard and loaf wall rails to match the handrail profiles, plus pigsear and mopstick wall rails, in white primed redwood, ash or oak.

Height

The top of the handrail should sit between 900mm and 1000mm above the pitch line of the stair, on the open side and on the wall.

Frequently asked questions

What height should a stair handrail be?

For a private stair, between 900mm and 1000mm measured vertically from the pitch line, the line joining the front edges of the treads. On a landing, the guarding should be at least 900mm high.

Do I need a handrail on both sides?

A stair less than one metre wide needs a handrail on at least one side. A stair one metre or wider needs a handrail on both sides.

Which groove size do I need?

Match the groove to your spindles: a 32mm groove for 32mm spindles, a 41mm groove for 41mm spindles. Your base rail and infill should use the same size.

How long a handrail do I need?

Measure along the slope between the faces of the top and bottom newels. Our handrails come in 4200mm lengths and are cut to fit on site.
