Half Turn Staircases, Made to Order
A half turn staircase turns back on itself on a landing, so it rises in about half the floor length of a straight flight. It suits square stairwells, commercial buildings and homes where the stair returns over itself.
What goes into a half turn staircase
A compact footprint
Two flights side by side with a landing across the top of the first, so the stair takes up length and width rather than one long run.
Left or right hand
The second flight can return on the left or the right of the first.
Landing balustrade
The open sides of the landing and the stairwell can take matching spindles, glass and handrail.
Made to the regulations
Every flight is set out to the Part K limits for rise, going and pitch before it is made.

Frequently asked questions
How much space does a half turn staircase need?
Roughly twice the stair width plus a small gap, by the length of the longer flight plus the landing. The Staircase Builder shows the footprint for your sizes.
Can the landing be split into winders?
Ask us. Winders save space but are harder to use, so we usually recommend a flat landing.
How long does a made to order staircase take?
It depends on the workshop schedule and the specification. We confirm the lead time with your price.
Is delivery included?
Made to order staircases are delivered by Manchester Stairs Limited. Delivery is confirmed with your price.
