Frequently asked questions
How many spindles do I need?
Usually two per tread on the stair and one every 130 to 140mm along a landing. Count the treads on the open side, double it, and add the landing run.
What is the maximum gap between spindles?
The building regulations require that a 100mm sphere cannot pass through any gap in the balustrade of a private stair.
How long are your spindles?
Our white primed spindles come in 825mm and 845mm lengths and are cut to length on site.
Can I use metal spindles on a timber staircase?
Yes. Ask us which handrail, base rail and brackets suit your staircase before you order.
